Pastor Danny Grizzle was born on August 16, 1958, the oldest child of Charles and Doris Grizzle. He was raised and still resides in Scott County, VA. He married Vicki Christian of Woodway, VA. They have one son, Travis, who is very active in the church.  

Pastor Grizzle repented, was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, and received the Holy Ghost when he was seventeen years old. A year or so later, he felt God calling him into the ministry. He first began his ministry in the Rye Cove Pentecostal Church, which his parents had helped to start.

In 1981, when he was twenty-three years old, Pastor Grizzle began a new work in Gate City, VA. The Gate City Church of Jesus Christ was the first Apostolic church in the town of Gate City.

In 1984, Pastor Grizzle saw the need for a Christian school, and he started the Gate City Christian School.  Sister Vicki Grizzle teaches and supervises the school.

By the mid-nineties, the congregation had outgrown the original church building. They purchased a piece of adjoining property and built a much larger facility. Three years after the church building was completed, they built a large family center with a gym and Christian School facilities.

The Lord has continually blessed the labors of Pastor Grizzle and the church at Gate City.
